Moonlit Missive #79: 'The Moon's Marrow Grove'

by In Gowan Ring

Moonlit Missives exclusive
1.
You seekers in the grove of the moon’s marrow What secrets would you wrest from the world’s bone Come tell what further tales you would borrow To compose and sing aloud your poem If you pass this way leave here a sign Where seeds sprout in the moon’s marrow grove Where swollen grapes labor for your wine And wreathes adorn the monuments of love While dreams of childhood cling within your sleeve in play with stream and stone and stick and mud In thrall to the trees ever falling leaves and the bulbs of the ever blooming bud With what cage have you ensnared your bird What endearing jail have you devised Come tell, what seduction would confine the world What sage could some perfect course advise And what pursuits have seen your passing days That partake of years and lives to bide Steps made clear today may tomorrow haze See those others trodden by the wayside Poems wrought in days that fleeting went The ripest fruit your eager lips have sucked You sang your songs, time worse could be spent And nowhere goes the ripest fruit unplucked You seekers in the grove of the moon’s marrow What secrets would you wrest from the world’s bone Come tell what further trails you would follow To compose and sing aloud your poem If you pass this way leave here a sign Where seeds sprout in the moon’s marrow grove Where swollen grapes labor for your wine And wreathes adorn the monuments of love
