Moonlit Missive #91: 'Of Dream and Stone'

by In Gowan Ring

Moonlit Missives exclusive
1.
Where will you go to—and in what abode, Ply hand to harness with enquiry’s load? On the parchment of life I have written the names Of all the things I would like to explain: Why the grass is green How water gathers in streams Why the waves break on the sand How the sun chases the moon over he land So a year passes with ears held to hear Is one to live only by their hope and their fear? While the hand of the drunkard Pours the cup for another Bent to the light of the giver’s river And the grass is green Water gathers in streams The Waves break on the sand The Sun chases the Moon over the land Buoyant in sunlight, star structures all Lift upward and outward, the great and small All of the creatures soak up the sun Abide in the features of dream and of stone And the grass is green Water gathers in streams Waves break on the sand The sun chases the moon over the land
