Doors to Nowhere

from Moonlit Missive #76 by In Gowan Ring

Moonlit Missives exclusive

lyrics

I try and track the trail within the morning.
I tell the tale I must
Perhaps in time I’ll be asking only questions
In time the answers turn to dust
Chasing their own tails
Through well-worn doors to nowhere
Still I sigh, and how the water glistens
Rolling round the rubble in the shallows
Carving cryptic sigils through the mountain
Open eyes of wonder, whispering low
Open eyes of wonder whispering low

Wandering random through all the hidden places
Solitude enthrall to love of sun
A bliss orb beaming white light
through the heavens
For all the earth a laurel crown
On a quest to discover
The age old doors to nowhere
What chimeric wisp of shadow
Hunts the haunted at their hallowed ground
With simple song of lavish laughter
In rapture to the tune without sound
In rapture to the tune without sound

Old told tales of lives lived inbetween
Suspended in the grotto’s gloom
Broken toys and tawny talismans
Proffered to the motley tomb
They danced devoted to the drowning
Faithfully unfolding doors to nowhere
And lovers left lost leafy promises
In the rain where faded flowers fell
As all the branches reach to heaven
So too the roots reach into hell
So too the roots reach into hell
