The Walker in the Wood

from Moonlit Missive #29 by In Gowan Ring

Moonlit Missives exclusive

lyrics

The Walker in the Wood

All the world is sleeping
While the walker in the wood
Steps soft to the fountain
By light of a fragile moon
Reading his good and evil fortune
Written by thin fingers of fate
His hardened feet are worn
With walking a long, tangled trail
His eyes are shot with blood

Peering on with lotus leaf eyes
Leaving worldly shame
By dark water dawn has come
Bright plumes and a black stone
When the white swans swim on the water
Burbles a pure fountain of song
Burnt smoke of sandalwood and saffron
Drift within the sound
Of flute and lute and drum
